Discover Coops and Cages’ Range of Rabbit Hutches
Choosing the right home for your rabbits is an important decision, and we’re here to help make it simple. At Coops and Cages, we’ve built our reputation on quality, care and a real understanding of what bunnies need.
Types of Rabbit Hutches
When choosing a rabbit hutch, you first need to consider how many bunnies you will keep. Then consider where the hutch will go – Will it be outdoors? How much space do you have? Will it go on the grass or on a veranda? Here at Coops and Cages, we have a hutch to suit every situation.
Single and Double Storey Designs
Our 1-storey hutches are easy for both you and your children to access. They are also ideal for elderly or less mobile bunnies as there are no ramps. Our 2-storey hutches are great for smaller areas. They take up less space in the backyard while still giving your rabbit plenty of room to move around.
Timber VS Metal Hutches
The majority of our hutches are wooden with asphalt rooves, making them ideal for outdoor areas. The timber is naturally rot-resistant and safe for your bunnies to chew on. We also stock a few metal hutches that are very sturdy and chew-proof. However, these don’t offer much protection so must be used indoors.
Hutches for 1 – 6 Rabbits
If you only have one or two bunnies, we offer several hutches that are both small and affordable. Luckly enough to have a herd of six bunnies? We have larger options that can house them all together. You can choose a bigger hutch for just one or two rabbits—the extra space is great for their wellbeing, but it may not be essential.
Outdoor and Indoor Hutch Options
Our outdoor hutches are made from naturally rot-resistant timber that lasts well outdoors. Their rooves are waterproof asphalt, meaning your bunnies can rest comfortably outside even in the rain. Our indoor hutches have limited protection but are made from chew-proof metal. Most are on wheels so you can conveniently move your pet when needed.

FAQ
Is it cheaper to build a rabbit hutch or buy one?
Flatpack rabbit hutches are a more affordable and convenient option compared to building one from scratch, as they are cheaper than buying new materials. However, building your own may be cheaper if you already have suitable materials on hand.
Should rabbit hutches be inside or outside?
Rabbit hutches can be kept either indoors or outdoors, depending on your preference and living situation. Outdoor hutches provide rabbits with fresh air and sunlight, while indoor hutches allow for more interaction with your pet. However, indoor hutches require daily cleaning to manage odour.
Can rabbits stay in a hutch all day?
Most owners keep their rabbits in smaller hutches, then allow them an hour or two outside of the hutch each day to exercise. This could be in a playpen in the backyard or supervised in your house. Alternatively, you can purchase a very large hutch that is big enough for them to exercise in and stay inside full time.
What is the best thing to line a rabbit cage with?
We recommend an absorbent, disposable bedding. This could include wood shavings, shredded paper, straw, hay or hemp. You can also line their hutch base with an old towel covered in fleece liners. This is comfortable and environmentally friendly, but can be a lot more effort. They need to be spot cleaned daily and washed multiple times per week.
Do rabbits like two-level cages?
Yes, most rabbits are confident using the ramps on multi-storey hutches. In fact, many enjoy using them as a form of exercise and play. Multi-storey hutches may be a concern if your rabbit is elderly or has mobility problems.
